How L’Oréal Is Leading Beauty’s AI Revolution
Explore new tech launches that are reshaping beauty, skincare & fragrance
At Dillie, a beauty and personal care digital marketing agency, we love when beauty and tech intersect—and L’Oréal’s latest innovations offer a compelling glimpse into where the industry is headed. At Viva Technology 2025 in Paris, the brand unveiled its most advanced lineup of AI-powered solutions yet. Though we’re still in the early stages of AI adoption and skepticism remains, L’Oréal’s bold investments in AI and technology to re-energize the beauty and skincare space in an already saturated market speaks volume.
Here are the standout launches we think beauty brands and marketers should be paying attention to:
🧪Skin Longevity Through AI
L’Oréal collaborated with NanoEntek to create the Lancôme Cell BioPrint, a portable device that analyzes a cheek patch sample to assess skin protein biomarkers, or the biological signs of aging. Using the L’Oréal Longevity AI Cloud, the tool doesn’t just identify visible skin condition, it identifies the root causes of aging across 9 different hallmarks to personalize skincare and extend skin health on a cellular level.
🌱 AI-Optimized Vertical Farming
L’Oréal is collabing with Interstellar Lab, an innovating company that specializes in intelligent biofarming to grow botanicals autonomously in biopods. Together, they are revolutionizing sustainable ingredient sourcing with advanced crop-stacking systems that minimizes space, water consumption, and energy usage.
🌸 Sustainable Fragrance Innovation
Through a partnership with Cosmo International Fragrances, L’Oréal launched Osmobloom, an air-capture fragrance technology that extracts scent molecules from living flowers, without harming them!
Classic scent extraction involves some damage or transformation of the flower. What makes this solution different is that is uses a flow of air, similar a person inhaling the smell of a flower, that collects the scent molecules over a 24-hour period. The molecules are then contained in a bio sourced liquid for use.
The solution is already behind the high-end fragrance launch, Valentino Beauty’s Private Talk, where it was used for the tuberose olfactory.
Leading AI Advancements in the Beauty Industry
You may be wondering, why is L’Oréal making such an ambitious bet on AI and technology? Because the returns are already there. 📊 The company has seen a 70% increase in in-store conversions following AI diagnostics, a 22% increase in media efficiency, a 30-40% life in ad ROI, and thousands of assets are now being created in-house on a monthly basis.
Here’s how L’Oréal and its partners are accelerating this momentum:
💬 Conversational Beauty Assistants
Meta is is working with L’Oréal to bring Beauty Genius, an AI beauty assistant that interacts directly with consumers on WhatsApp. It offers expert analysis, product recommendations and personalized routines tailored to each customer’s individual needs.
🧘 A Mindfulness Skincare App
La Roche-Posay partnered with the popular Calm app to create Spotscan+Coach, an app that fuses AI skin diagnostics with mental wellness support and habits coaching. It helps consumers improve their skin and acne care, not just with the correct routine, but also with habits that contribute to clearer, healthier skin.
🤖 CREAITECH: LOréal’s AI Creative Lab
L’Oréal recently announced a longterm strategic collaboration with NVIDIA in tandem with the launch of its in-house generative AI content studio, CREAITECH. L’Oréal’s entire partner ecosystem will be able to use this AI enterprise platform for scalable creative assets (like 3D digital rendering of L’Oréal products) for marketing campaigns across social media, e-commerce, and influencer marketing.
“Our focus is to drive unparalleled consumer engagement, with both creativity and technology, as transformative technologies such as gen AI & agentic AI redefine our consumer expectations. We are incredibly excited to collaborate with NVIDIA to leverage AI’s potential, in order to augement creativity, and to help turn consumers’ beauty dreams into reality.” - Asmita Dubey, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer, L’Oréal Groupe
⭐ Next-Gen AI Marketplace
Noli (“No one like I”), an AI multi-brand marketplace, is a new and notable startup founded and backed by L’Oréal Groupe. The platform acts as a beauty matchmaker. It allows users to take a face scan, and then, using AI diagnostics based on over 1 million skin data points and the analysis of 1000s of product formulations, Noli creates a personalized BeautyDNA for each user, matching them with optimal products.
💡 Humanized AI in Customer Care
Salesforce is working with L’Oréal to help their agents with humanizing AI that helps the team deliver more efficient service at scale. For starters, L’Oréal is leveraging Salesforce Service Cloud to create a single view of each customer that combines their data from all channels, including SMS, chat, email, purchase history, order status, and activity updates so their agents are armed with all the data they need in one place when speaking with customers.
Then AI comes in. In L’Oréal’s North American region, chatbots that use humanized AI offload basic requests and offer options to personalize messaged. Emails are also classified to help agents prioritize cases. Already, L’Oréal’s agent satisfaction scores have improved by 70%.
🕶️ Live Makeup Try-On
YSL Beauty Hyper Look Studio released as a new form of “beautytainment”, allowing guests to virtually try on social media trends. Guests can select a trending beauty look from a curated social media feed. The solution’s AI pairs the selected trend with an exclusive YSL-created beauty look. From there, guests can try on the YSL makeup look live through GenAI, AR, and color matching technology from ModiFace. An included photobooth lets users capture their transformation. Perfect for sharing, trying on different aesthetics, or saving as inspiration for future YSL purchases.
